Tours at Chaw’se

Tours for School Groups

At Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park, group tours are available by reservation.

Schools may sign up for a guided tour of the park and museum. Every year, hundreds of students of all ages learn first-hand about the park's unique cultural and physical history. Volunteer docents lead small groups of students and their teachers around the park's reconstructed Miwok village, chaw'se (grinding rock), hun'ge (roundhouse), and museum.

Signing Up for a Tour

Please call the park at (209) 296-7488 to ask about available dates and times, as well as fees. Tours are conducted March 1st through the middle of June, and September 1st through the middle of November.

Self-Guided Tours

Nature trails are available for visitors interested in a self-guided tour of the park's diverse flora and fauna.

Group picnic areas, drinking fountains, and restrooms are available.
